UAE Organ Donation and Transplantation Congress 2024 Kicks Off in Dubai

Dubai, The Gulf Observer: The UAE Organ Donation and Transplantation Congress 2024 commenced today in Dubai, heralding a pivotal moment for the healthcare sector as it brings together over 8,000 experts and specialists, both in-person and remotely. Organized collaboratively by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), the congress is slated to run from January 27th to 30th.
Distinguished representatives from various health authorities, government entities, and the private healthcare sector are actively participating in the 4-day event. The global stage of the congress is further enriched with the inclusion of participants from around the world, engaging in robust discussions, insightful presentations, and enlightening lectures featured throughout the conference.
Over the course of the four-day scientific sessions, speakers will delve into multifaceted aspects of organ donation and transplantation. Topics to be explored include the pivotal role of organ donation in mitigating cases of chronic organ failure, innovative strategies to address existing challenges, the outcomes of organ transplantation, and how they contribute significantly to enhancing the quality of life for recipients.
The conference also aims to explore avenues to alleviate the burden of chronic diseases, emphasizing the importance of education and capacity-building in the fields of donation and transplantation. Furthermore, regional and international cooperation in this domain will be a key focus.
Hayat Programme Recognition
A spotlight will be cast on the achievements of “Hayat,” the National Programme for Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissue, operating under the Ministry of Health and Prevention. “Hayat” has garnered international recognition for its exceptional performance, emerging as the world’s best and fastest-growing program in organ donation.
The commendable increase in the number of donors after death per million population, with a remarkable 417 percent growth over the past five years in the UAE, has earned international acclaim according to the Congress of the International Society for Organ Donation and Procurement (ISODP).
The conference will underline the significant strides made in cultivating a culture of organ donation among citizens and residents of the UAE. Recognizing organ donation as a noble humanitarian endeavor, the program aligns with the values of sustainability and significantly contributes to realizing the objectives of the Quality-of-Life Index.
“Hayat” has not only showcased remarkable success but has also been instrumental in fostering community solidarity and tolerance.
