UAE President, French Minister Discuss Defence Cooperation and Regional Security Amid Escalation

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Her Excellency Catherine Vautrin, Minister of the Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs of the French Republic, during a high-level meeting focused on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and addressing regional security challenges.

During the meeting, the French Minister conveyed the greetings of French President Emmanuel Macron and his wishes for the continued security, stability, and prosperity of the United Arab Emirates.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reciprocated the sentiments, asking the Minister to convey his greetings to President Macron, along with his best wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of France and its people.

The discussions centered on enhancing cooperation and coordination in defence affairs within the framework of the longstanding UAE–France Strategic Partnership. Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening these ties.

The meeting also reviewed the evolving situation in the Middle East, particularly in light of ongoing military escalation and its serious implications for regional and international security and stability.

Her Excellency Catherine Vautrin reiterated France’s condemnation of the Iranian terrorist attacks targeting the UAE and other countries in the region. She emphasized France’s solidarity with the UAE and affirmed support for all measures being undertaken to safeguard the country’s security, stability, and the safety of its citizens.

The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President; along with a number of ministers and senior officials.
