UAE Reaffirms Commitment to Justice and Tolerance at 30th Anniversary of Srebrenica Genocide

Srebrenica, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates participated in the official commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide, held on July 11, 2025, in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The solemn event marked three decades since the horrific massacre of 8,372 innocent lives in 1995 and served as a day of remembrance and reflection for the global community.
The UAE delegation was led by Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Ahmed Al Shamsi, UAE Consul-General to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Minister Al Hashimy attended the ceremony in response to an official invitation addressed to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Through its participation, the UAE reaffirmed its recognition of the crimes committed in Srebrenica as genocide, standing in solidarity with the victims, survivors, and their families. The UAE stressed its unwavering commitment to preserving the memory of the victims, while strongly condemning all efforts to deny, distort, or misrepresent the historical truth of the atrocities.
The commemoration also reflected the UAE’s broader dedication to promoting peace, tolerance, coexistence, and mutual respect—principles that lie at the core of its foreign policy. The UAE emphasized the urgent necessity of confronting hatred, discrimination, and violence in all their forms to ensure that such tragedies are never repeated.
In honoring the legacy of Srebrenica, the UAE reaffirmed its belief that every individual—regardless of race, religion, or nationality—deserves to live in peace, dignity, and safety within their communities and across the world.
The UAE’s participation stood as a powerful symbol of remembrance, solidarity, and the shared global responsibility to uphold justice and prevent future atrocities.
