UAE to Host Sixth Meeting of MENA ARCM Committee in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announced today that the UAE will host the Sixth Meeting of the Middle East North Africa Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Regional Cooperation Mechanism (MENA ARCM) Committee in Abu Dhabi on November 19, 2024.
This announcement follows the conclusion of the fifth meeting of the committee, which was chaired by the UAE and held in Muscat, Oman, in May 2024.
The agenda for the upcoming meeting will include discussions on the roles and responsibilities of air accident investigation bodies, regional challenges and opportunities, and joint efforts among countries in the region to implement international standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and included in the Annexes to the Chicago Convention on aircraft accident investigation and aviation safety.
Captain Aysha Mohammed Al Hamili, Assistant Director-General of Air Accident Investigations at the GCAA, emphasized the UAE’s commitment to enhancing regional cooperation frameworks, exchanging expertise, and adopting best practices in air accident investigations.
On the sidelines of the Muscat meeting, the UAE delegation participated in the Air Accident Victim and Family Assistance Conference, where they highlighted the UAE’s experience and the comprehensive plans and regulatory frameworks established to manage the aftermath of aviation accidents. These frameworks are essential for mitigating the impacts of aviation disasters on victims and their families.
The Muscat meeting and the accompanying conference witnessed significant participation from representatives of Middle Eastern and North African countries, regional airlines, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, Boeing, and the International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations.
The UAE’s hosting of the Sixth MENA ARCM Committee meeting reflects its leading role in fostering regional collaboration and advancing aviation safety standards.
