UAE–US Trade and Technology Ties Strengthened During Sheikh Abdullah’s Washington Visit

Washington, D.C., The Gulf Observer: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, met with Howard Lutnick, US Secretary of Commerce, during a working visit to Washington.

The meeting focused on advancing bilateral trade cooperation and strengthening partnerships in priority sectors, particularly advanced technology and artificial intelligence (AI), reflecting the depth of the longstanding strategic ties between the UAE and the United States.

Both sides also discussed enhancing collaboration under Pax Silica, a US-led international initiative aimed at building secure, resilient, and innovation-driven supply chains for technologies foundational to the AI era. The initiative emphasizes silicon and critical minerals essential for semiconductor production, advanced computing, and other high-tech systems.

Sheikh Abdullah underscored that the United States remains a key strategic partner of the UAE in its journey toward comprehensive and sustainable development. He noted that economic and trade cooperation between the two nations continues to witness qualitative growth, demonstrating the strength and durability of their historic relationship.

Expressing optimism about future prospects, Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the UAE’s aspiration to continue joint efforts with the United States to open new avenues of cooperation, serving shared interests and contributing to sustainable prosperity for both countries.

The meeting was attended by Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, UAE Minister of State, and Yousef Manea Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States.
