Doha, The Gulf Observer: University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) celebrated World Mental Health Day with a vibrant festival held on campus under the fitting theme “Make Mental Health a Priority”.

The initiative was led by the department of Student Success and Counselling, under Student Affairs. UDST students, faculty and staff members participated in the lively celebration, featuring a Mental Health Zone, an introductory workshop and a campus walk.

Commenting on the initiative Dr. Salem Al Naemi, President of UDST, said: “Health plays a crucial role in the success and happiness of our students. At University of Doha for Science and Technology, we are dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment in which our students can thrive, meet and exceed their potential. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, a powerful spotlight has emerged on the need to address and support mental health challenges amongst the global education community, and today’s event is an example of UDST’s specific commitment to mental health across the university’s population.”

The day started with March for Mental Health – a short walk led by staff from the Student Success and Counselling department, and attended by UDST’s executives, faculty, students and staff. The Mental Health Zone was set up and hosted in the main building of the university
