Astana, The Gulf Observer: The 100th anniversary of Kazakh writer Berdibek Sokpakbayev, a literary luminary who played a pivotal role in the advancement of Kazakh literature, is set to be commemorated this year with UNESCO’s endorsement, as announced by the Kazakh Culture and Information Ministry.

Initiated under the guidance of the Head of State, the centenary celebrations commenced in the regional center of Almaty. Notably, in the writer’s birthplace of Narynkol, a monument paying homage to Sokpakbayev will be unveiled, serving as a permanent tribute to his literary contributions. Additionally, parks, an educational institution, and a regional library are slated to bear the distinguished name of the revered writer.

Berdibek Sokpakbayev, renowned for his literary prowess, authored over 20 short novels, stories, and novels tailored for children and teenagers. His literary legacy, characterized by a profound impact on Kazakh literature, continues to resonate, and the centennial celebrations seek to honor his enduring influence.

The festivities, held in collaboration with UNESCO, aim not only to celebrate Sokpakbayev’s remarkable literary career but also to foster a renewed appreciation for his works among current and future generations. The unveiling of monuments, the dedication of public spaces, and the naming of educational institutions in his honor underscore the lasting imprint of Berdibek Sokpakbayev on the cultural landscape of Kazakhstan.
