University of Indonesia Expands Global Collaboration with Gangwon State University
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: The University of Indonesia (UI) has furthered its international engagement by formalizing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South Korea’s Gangwon State University, aimed at fostering cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
UI’s Deputy Rector for Human Capital and Assets, Dedi Priadi, highlighted the focus of collaboration between the two esteemed institutions, which encompasses student exchange programs, research collaborations, and employment training initiatives. The MoU, signed by Priadi and Gangwon State University’s President Kim Kwang-Rae during a visit to UI’s Depok campus on March 26, 2024, underscores the commitment to long-term partnership and academic synergy.
Priadi emphasized UI’s dedication to expanding its global footprint as a world-class university, with collaborations such as this reinforcing its position as a hub for international academic exchange and collaboration.
Gangwon State University, recognized for its excellence in research and education, particularly benefits from its strategic location and modern facilities. President Kim Kwang-Rae highlighted the university’s pivotal role in providing high-quality education to support industrial development in Gangneung City and its environs.
He further elaborated on Gangwon’s significance in South Korea’s industrial landscape, offering abundant job opportunities for workers and university students alike. As part of its commitment to cross-cultural exchange, Gangwon State University plans to offer a free course on culture for international students, fostering a deeper understanding of Korean culture through the Global Gangwon Culture initiative.
Moreover, UI students stand to benefit from the collaboration, particularly through the university’s Korean Language and Culture Program, which has been in operation since 2006. This program facilitates participation in Gangwon State University’s cultural courses, providing invaluable opportunities for cultural immersion and academic enrichment.
