Uzbek and Russian Parliamentary Leaders Hold High-Level Talks at BRICS Forum

St. Petersburg, The Gulf Observer: Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, engaged in discussions with Valentina Matviyenko, Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, at the X BRICS Parliamentary Forum held in St. Petersburg.
The talks centered on the prospects for developing interparliamentary relations and expanding regional cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia. At the outset, both leaders highlighted the unique and friendly relationship between their countries’ leaders, which is built on mutual trust and forms the foundation of an all-encompassing strategic partnership.
During the meeting, Narbaeva and Matviyenko exchanged views on enriching economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation with practical initiatives. They emphasized the importance of leveraging parliamentary diplomacy to implement agreements and trade-economic projects between the two nations.
The necessity of promoting effective regional cooperation was also underlined. Both parties agreed on the critical role of active engagement within international interparliamentary organizations, particularly the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the Inter-Parliamentary Union, to further strengthen their collaboration.
The high-level talks reaffirmed the commitment of Uzbekistan and Russia to continue fostering their strategic partnership through enhanced interparliamentary dialogue and regional cooperation.
