Uzbek and Turkish Parliamentary Leaders Discuss Strengthening Ties During IPU Assembly in Tashkent

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: On the sidelines of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) currently underway in Tashkent, Nuriddin Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, held a bilateral meeting with Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Türkiye.

During the meeting, Speaker Kurtulmuş lauded Uzbekistan’s balanced, open, and constructive foreign policy, and commended the comprehensive reforms and socio-economic transformations that have taken place under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He emphasized Türkiye’s commitment to further enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation with Uzbekistan.

“Uzbekistan is the homeland of our ancestors. The fact that this event is being held in your country is significant. Thanks to the wise policy pursued by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan is rapidly advancing in all directions,” Kurtulmuş stated. “Türkiye values and will always support the ties of cooperation, brotherhood, and friendship with Uzbekistan.”

Kurtulmuş noted that hosting the 150th IPU Assembly in Tashkent is a testament to the growing international recognition of Uzbekistan’s achievements in governance, reform, and democratic renewal. He underlined the importance of the Assembly as a platform for dialogue, mutual learning, and parliamentary diplomacy.

The two sides exchanged views on the prospects for deepening inter-parliamentary collaboration, including regular exchanges of legislative experience, coordination in international forums, and support for joint initiatives that contribute to regional stability and development.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen bilateral ties, reflecting the strong historical, cultural, and brotherly bonds between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
