Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Presidents Hold High-Level Talks to Boost Cooperation

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: At the “Kuksaroy” residence, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov held a significant meeting in a narrow format, discussing key issues of Uzbek-Kyrgyz cooperation.
President Mirziyoyev warmly welcomed President Japarov, noting the strong foundation laid for expanding multifaceted interaction through joint efforts in recent years. The signing of the Joint Declaration on the further deepening and expansion of comprehensive strategic partnership relations during this visit was highlighted as a testament to the mutual desire to elevate bilateral relations to a higher level.
The necessity of enhancing contacts at the level of parliaments, governments, foreign policy, and sectoral agencies, along with continuing mutual support within international and regional platforms, including the United Nations, WTO, Consultative Meetings of Heads of States of the Region, and the “Central Asia plus” formats, was emphasized.
The discussion underscored the importance of forming a new economic cooperation agenda, with comprehensive measures to increase trade turnover to $2 billion in the coming years. A successful business forum held on the eve of this visit resulted in a package of new agreements, setting the stage for future economic collaboration.
Cooperation projects in renewable energy sources, automotive manufacturing, and the textile industry will be launched during this visit. Priority attention was given to the practical implementation of strategic regional projects, including the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway and the Kambarata-1 Hydroelectric Power Station. New proposals for developing transport and energy infrastructure were also considered.
The presidents emphasized the importance of expanding interregional cooperation, particularly within the Council of Khokims of Border Regions. Detailed discussions were held on mutually beneficial cooperation in agriculture, water management, ecology, security, and other areas.
The activation of cultural and humanitarian exchanges was noted with satisfaction. The Days of Kyrgyz Culture are being celebrated in Uzbekistan this week, and the second Rectors’ Forum was successfully held in Samarkand. Both parties agreed to prepare a calendar of cultural events for the coming years.
Finally, the heads of state exchanged views on regional agenda issues of mutual interest, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the bonds between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
