Uzbekistan and Malaysia Parliaments Discuss Prospects for Enhanced Cooperation

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, received a distinguished delegation from Malaysia, headed by Nur Jazlan Mohamed, Deputy Chairperson of the Senate of the Parliament.
During the meeting, both parties expressed a strong mutual interest in fostering the development of friendly relations and multilateral partnerships between Uzbekistan and Malaysia. Discussions covered a wide array of sectors including politics, trade, economics, investment, culture, humanitarian issues, and tourism.
Emphasis was placed on the significance of maintaining trusting and constructive relations between the President of Uzbekistan and the Prime Minister of Malaysia, which are deemed essential for the advancement of bilateral cooperation.
The meeting also highlighted potential joint programs in the fields of education and advanced training, particularly in mechanical engineering and technology. Moreover, the launch of pilgrimage tourism was discussed as a promising area of collaboration.
A special focus was given to interparliamentary cooperation. It was noted that there has been a marked increase in regular contacts and visits in recent years. To further enhance these ties, both sides acknowledged the necessity of strengthening the work of “friendship groups.”
The delegation underscored the importance of assisting in the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level through effective parliamentary control.
At the conclusion of the discussions, an agreement was reached to develop a comprehensive document on cooperation between the Senates of Uzbekistan and Malaysia. This document will outline specific measures in the areas of legislation, parliamentary oversight, committee interactions, and regional development.
This meeting marks a significant step towards deepening the collaboration and fostering a robust partnership between the two nations.
