Uzbekistan and Pakistan Open a New Chapter in Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: An important meeting took place today in the capital of Uzbekistan between the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Honorable Nuriddin Ismailov, and the Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, His Excellency Yousaf Raza Gillani.

Held in an atmosphere of mutual respect and sincere dialogue, the meeting reaffirmed the growing strength of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. Both sides emphasized that under the visionary leadership and personal efforts of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Uzbek-Pakistani relations have advanced to the level of a strategic partnership.

Today, Uzbekistan and Pakistan enjoy dynamic and multifaceted cooperation across a broad spectrum of areas, including politics, economy, culture, and humanitarian engagement. The meeting highlighted the deepening ties and shared commitment to further enhancing bilateral collaboration.

Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani lauded the wide-ranging democratic reforms underway in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He also expressed appreciation for Uzbekistan’s proactive role in fostering regional peace, stability, and mutual understanding.

Particular attention was given to the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary dialogue. The two sides agreed on the need to intensify the activities of friendship groups, facilitate the exchange of legislative experiences, and more effectively utilize public diplomacy as a means of enhancing mutual understanding and people-to-people connections.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 150th Anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is currently being hosted in Tashkent. The global event has served as a prestigious platform for promoting mutual respect, trust, and constructive international cooperation.

Both leaders expressed confidence that the deepening inter-parliamentary engagement will further boost bilateral relations and serve the shared interests of the peoples of Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
