Uzbekistan and Pakistan Strengthen Intellectual and Strategic Ties for Regional Cooperation

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: In a significant step toward deepening bilateral relations, H.E. Alisher Tukhtaev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, held a meaningful and forward-looking meeting with Senator Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, former Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan. The discussion, held in an atmosphere of mutual respect and strategic trust, focused on enhancing collaboration between the two countries’ analytical and research institutions.
During the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of uniting intellectual potential to shape a shared and prosperous future. Senator Kakar warmly reflected on his previous interactions with H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held in Tashkent, New York, and other international venues. He praised President Mirziyoyev’s visionary leadership and commitment to promoting peace, security, and sustainable development across the region.
Senator Kakar expressed a strong interest in launching direct dialogue and joint research initiatives between think tanks and expert institutions from both nations. The initiative is aimed at fostering mutual understanding and policy coordination on key regional issues.
The meeting also highlighted the strategic importance of the Trans-Afghan Railway Project, seen as a critical infrastructure initiative that could transform regional connectivity. Both parties agreed that the successful realization of the project would unlock new geoeconomic opportunities and significantly enhance integration between Central and South Asia.
