Uzbekistan, China plan to hold Forum of University Rectors in 2024

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Uzbekistan and China plan to hold a Forum of University Rectors in 2024.

First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Komiljon Karimov met with Deputy Minister of Education of the People’s Republic of China Sun Yao.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations between the two countries, including issues of education.

The parties discussed the experience in teaching Chinese language, engineering, digital economy, ICT, artificial intelligence and medicine. In addition, special attention was paid to the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the field of teaching Chinese language and literature, history and economics, as well as the development and expansion of vocational education in Uzbekistan.

Agreements were reached on providing scholarships to citizens of Uzbekistan to study at Chinese universities, creating opportunities for the exchange of experience in all areas developed in China, by improving the qualifications of professors of higher educational institutions in China and cooperation with Chinese educational organizations.

The issue of holding the Forum of University Rectors of Uzbekistan and China in 2024 was discussed in detail.

It was noted that the “Lu Ban Workshop” is being created at the Tashkent State Transport University. The goal of the project is to integrate theoretical and practical knowledge, train local specialists and attract them to enterprises operating in the country in cooperation with the Chinese side. This project is aimed at developing vocational education and is being implemented at the initiative of the Chinese side.

Following the meeting, a ceremony was held to sign an agreement between universities of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the People’s Republic of China. In particular, an Agreement was signed on the creation of a joint educational program between the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies and the Center for International Language Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and Liaoning Normal University.

Also, the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies signed a memorandum of understanding with the Center for International Language Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and Liaodong University.
