Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: The GLOBE Pakistan Summit 2025, dedicated to advancing e-commerce and digital connectivity in the region, was held in Islamabad with the participation of high-level representatives from Pakistan and Central Asia. The summit brought together policymakers, technology experts, and business leaders to discuss the transformative potential of digital trade.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtayev, attended the event as a special guest, underscoring Uzbekistan’s growing engagement in digital cooperation across the region.

In his keynote address, Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, stressed the strategic significance of strengthening trade and economic relations with Central Asia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) through digital platforms. He noted Uzbekistan’s emerging role as a regional transit and logistics hub, highlighting the opportunities for deepening bilateral and multilateral collaboration through e-commerce.

Ambassador Alisher Tukhtayev elaborated on Uzbekistan’s national priorities in digital transformation, including the modernization of logistics infrastructure and the expansion of e-commerce ecosystems. He shared insights into Uzbekistan’s ongoing reforms aimed at improving digital payment systems, encouraging innovation, and facilitating cross-border online trade.

A key presentation at the summit was delivered by Kamron Muhammadiyev, Director of the National Agency of Prospective Projects of Uzbekistan, who outlined the core objectives of the Digital Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy. He emphasized the country’s commitment to developing digital logistics, enhancing online payment mechanisms, and integrating Uzbek enterprises into global e-commerce platforms.

As part of the summit’s agenda, participants engaged in panel discussions exploring the opportunities and challenges facing regional e-commerce. Topics included digital infrastructure development, cross-border regulatory harmonization, cybersecurity, and the role of emerging technologies in shaping the future of trade.

The GLOBE Pakistan Summit 2025 marked a significant step in fostering regional cooperation and digital innovation, reinforcing Pakistan and Uzbekistan’s shared vision for a more connected and technologically advanced future.
