Uzbekistan’s FM Meets with Italy’s Minister of University and Research in Rome
Rome, The Gulf Observer: During his recent visit to Rome, Bakhtiyor Saidov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, held a significant meeting with Anna Maria Bernini, Italy’s Minister of University and Research. The meeting, reported by various media outlets, marked a step forward in enhancing educational and research ties between the two nations.
“Candid meeting with H.E. Anna Maria Bernini, Minister of University and Research of Italy,” Minister Saidov wrote on his Telegram channel. “Discussed about close cooperation on education, bringing more Italian universities to Uzbekistan, conducting joint research projects, building academic foundation to ensuring advanced economic development, organizing rectors’ forum, and more. Invited Madam Minister to visit Uzbekistan in the nearest future.”
The visit by the Uzbek delegation, led by Foreign Minister Saidov, took place on May 28-29. It was part of their participation in the third ministerial conference under the “Italy – Central Asia” format. Besides the conference, the delegation engaged in several bilateral negotiations aimed at strengthening ties between Uzbekistan and Italy.
Minister Saidov’s discussions with Minister Bernini focused on fostering closer cooperation in education, including initiatives to bring more Italian universities to Uzbekistan. The dialogue also covered the organization of joint research projects, efforts to build a strong academic foundation for advanced economic development, and the planning of a rectors’ forum to further academic collaboration.
Minister Saidov extended an invitation to Minister Bernini to visit Uzbekistan in the near future, highlighting the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation between the two countries in the educational and research sectors.
This meeting underscores Uzbekistan’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships in education and research, aiming to create opportunities for academic and economic growth.
