Uzbekistan’s FM Receives Newly Appointed UN Resident Coordinator

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, met with the newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator, Sabine Machl, today, according to media reports.

“Pleased to meet the newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan H.E. Sabine Machl,” Minister Saidov announced on his Telegram channel. He highlighted that Uzbekistan’s Reforms Strategy 2030 is fully aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and emphasized the government’s extensive cooperation agenda with the United Nations and its various bodies.

“Our close cooperation has been witnessing high dynamics in all directions. Nine resolutions initiated by Uzbekistan have been adopted by the UN recently, three of them in 2024. Even more is to come,” Saidov stated. He assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan stands ready to provide all necessary support to the UN Office team in Uzbekistan.

Sabine Machl, an experienced Austrian and international diplomat, succeeds Roli Asthana, who led the UN team in Uzbekistan from 2022 to 2023.
