Vice President Ma’ruf Amin Stresses Importance of Cabinet Coordination
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Vice President Ma’ruf Amin emphasized the critical need for effective coordination within the Cabinet to ensure that the government can function smoothly, despite the planned increase in the number of ministries under the incoming administration. His statement came during a press briefing on Thursday, following a meeting with officials at the Vice President’s Palace.
Responding to reports of a significant expansion in the number of ministries under the leadership of President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Amin assured that the division of work across ministries would not be an issue if proper coordination is maintained.
“I believe the number of ministries is not a problem as long as coordination between them runs well,” Amin remarked. He highlighted the key role of coordinating ministries in managing relationships between ministries under their purview, ensuring that governmental functions are carried out efficiently.
“Ministries or coordinating ministers need to coordinate well so that these ministries can operate effectively, and this coordination must be managed carefully,” he added.
The Vice President’s remarks come amid President-elect Prabowo Subianto’s recent meetings with 49 prominent figures, including politicians, academics, and current ministers, who are expected to serve in his Cabinet. The meetings, held earlier this week at Prabowo’s residence in South Jakarta, have sparked widespread attention as Prabowo prepares to finalize his government lineup.
On Tuesday, Prabowo also met with 59 additional candidates for the roles of deputy ministers and agency heads. These appointments are expected to be pivotal in the functioning of the new government, with the emphasis now placed on ensuring strong coordination between ministries to achieve effective governance.
