Việtnam Hosts State Banquet in Honour of Brunei Sultan, Highlights Strengthening Comprehensive Partnership

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: President Lương Cường on Monday hosted a state banquet in honour of Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei and his high-ranking delegation, who are on a state visit to Việtnam from November 30 to December 2. Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính also attended the ceremony.
Welcoming the Sultan, President Cường noted that over 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations and more than five years after upgrading ties to a Comprehensive Partnership, Việtnam and Brunei have witnessed steady expansion and deepening of bilateral cooperation. He said both countries are actively implementing the 2023–27 Action Programme, with a focus on effectively utilising cooperation potential in agriculture, fisheries, Halal industry development, energy, education, tourism, and maritime collaboration.
Expressing confidence that the Sultan’s visit would further strengthen the close relations between the two countries, the President said he believed the Việtnam–Brunei Comprehensive Partnership would continue to flourish through mutual goodwill and joint efforts. He emphasized that enhanced cooperation between the two nations would contribute to a united, resilient, and prosperous ASEAN Community, promoting peace, stability, development, and cooperation in the region and beyond.
In his remarks, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah highlighted Việtnam’s achievements over three decades of ASEAN membership, describing the country as one of the region’s dynamic economies and a highly respected member of the community. He expressed confidence that Việtnam would continue to achieve greater progress on its path to becoming a prosperous and sustainably developed nation by 2045.
The Sultan also praised Việt Nam’s growing international role and reputation, including its re-election to the UN Human Rights Council and its successful hosting of the signing ceremony for the UN Convention against Cybercrime.
On bilateral relations, he noted that Việtnam and Brunei enjoy warm and substantive cooperation under their Comprehensive Partnership framework. He expressed confidence that both sides would continue to strengthen coordination to meet shared objectives, enhance trade ties, promote joint ventures in agriculture, and advance energy collaboration under existing agreements—contributing to sustainable growth for both nations.
Brunei also looks forward to working closely with Việtnam and other ASEAN member states to realise the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, aimed at ensuring long-term regional peace, security, and stability.
