Vietnam to Launch Over 250 Major Projects Nationwide to Mark 80th National Day
Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: More than 250 key projects spearheaded by ministries, sectors, localities, and major corporations across 34 provinces and cities have been approved for launch or inauguration in celebration of the 80th anniversary of National Day.
According to a report from the Ministry of Construction, the projects represent a total investment of approximately VNĐ1.26 quadrillion (nearly US$48 billion), funded through the State budget and other financing sources.
Groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies will be held on August 19, with the central event taking place at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre in Đông Anh District, Hanoi. Eighty satellite sites across the country will be connected via live broadcast and on-site ceremonies. The programme will be aired live on Vietnam Television and broadcast through local radio and television stations.
The report was presented on Tuesday afternoon at a meeting of the Government’s Standing Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, to review preparations for the commemorative events marking the 80th anniversary of the National Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025).
Prime Minister Chính stressed that the events should serve as a source of momentum, ambition, and renewed dedication, helping to foster the drive and strength needed for national development. He instructed relevant agencies to continue reviewing and selecting truly exemplary projects, ensuring that ceremonies are meaningful, efficient, dignified, inspiring, and cost-effective, while fully adhering to regulations.
The Prime Minister also called for enhanced recognition and commendation activities, intensified communication efforts before, during, and after the events, and the implementation of comprehensive security and safety measures to ensure their smooth and successful execution.
Promoting Patriotism Through Cultural Celebration
During the meeting, Prime Minister Chính reflected on recent cultural and artistic events marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day. He commended the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Public Security, Nhân Dân (People) newspaper, Vietnam Television, and other agencies for effectively carrying out the instructions of the Politburo, Party General Secretary Tô Lâm, the Central Steering Committee for major national anniversaries, and the Government in organising impactful cultural programmes to celebrate the historic milestones.
Expressing deep emotion at the sight of stands filled with the red of the national flag and the sound of tens of thousands of voices singing the national anthem Tiến Quân Ca (The Marching Song), he praised these events for igniting patriotic fervour and dedication among all segments of society. He also acknowledged the talent, creativity, and public service spirit demonstrated by the artists, organisers, and production teams involved.
Earlier, on Sunday, the Prime Minister conducted an unannounced inspection of preparations for major events, including the national achievement exhibition 80 Years on the Journey of Independence – Freedom – Happiness at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre. He also visited the production team and artists rehearsing for a grand music gala, urging them to ensure safety, smooth traffic, and timely completion.
Highlighting the role of culture, Prime Minister Chính affirmed that it is an internal source of strength and a spiritual foundation—national in character, scientific in nature, and for the people. Quoting late President Hồ Chí Minh, he said, “As long as culture exists, the nation exists” and “Culture lights the way for the nation to move forward.”
From its inception, the Party has valued cultural development as a pillar of national progress. Translating this vision into practice, the Government has implemented initiatives to preserve and promote Việt Nam’s 4,000-year-old cultural heritage, develop the cultural and creative industries, and support artists in pursuing their craft while earning a sustainable livelihood.
These efforts, in line with the directives of Party General Secretary Tô Lâm, aim to ensure that the people have ever greater access to the country’s cultural treasures and the benefits of its development.
