Vietnamese PM Chính Attends WEF Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Tianjin

Tianjin, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính of Vietnam participated in the opening plenary of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, held on Wednesday in Tianjin, China.

The Vietnamese leader joined five other heads of state and government at the high-level plenary session, including Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, and Kyrgyz Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev.

In his opening address, Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the event’s role in fostering multilateralism, enhancing global trade and investment, and encouraging entrepreneurship at a time of significant transformation in the global economic order.

Held under the theme “Entrepreneurship for a New Era,” the meeting has attracted more than 1,700 participants from nearly 100 countries. These include senior government officials, representatives of international organisations, leading scholars, experts, and prominent business leaders.

Prime Minister Chính is scheduled to participate in several key sessions during the three-day event, which runs from June 24 to 26. On Wednesday, he appeared as a special guest at a policy dialogue titled “Việt Nam’s New Era: From Vision to Action.”

This marks the third consecutive invitation extended to the Vietnamese Prime Minister to attend the WEF Annual Meeting of the New Champions, reflecting Vietnam’s growing international engagement and economic prominence.

The forum features over 120 sessions focused on global collaboration and innovation, structured around five main themes: deciphering the global economy; China’s outlook; industrial transformation; investing in people and the planet; and new energy and materials.
