Vietnamese PM Hosts Receptions for Chinese Business Leaders in Dalian
Dalian, The Gulf Observer: On Monday, Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính hosted separate receptions for leaders of prominent Chinese businesses specializing in infrastructure, during his visit to Dalian City in Liaoning Province. The meetings were part of the Prime Minister’s trip to China to attend the 15th World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting of the New Champions, held from June 24 to 27.
In his meeting with Sun Yongcai, Chairman of Dalian Locomotive and Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. (CRRC), PM Chính invited the company to participate in infrastructure development projects in Vietnam, particularly large-scale inter-regional and urban railway projects. Sun briefed the Prime Minister on CRRC’s operations, highlighting the company’s expertise in producing locomotives, urban rail vehicles, express trains, and new energy locomotives. CRRC’s products have been exported to 32 countries, including Vietnam.
CRRC expressed a strong desire to continue providing railway products for Vietnam and to collaborate on rail transport and new energy projects in the country. Sun emphasized CRRC’s interest in cooperating on inter-regional, inter-provincial, and urban railway projects, particularly in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Referencing the Vietnam-China joint statement from December 2023 on deepening and elevating the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, PM Chính underscored the agreement to promote standard-gauge railway connectivity across the shared border. He called on China, including CRRC, to support Vietnam in boosting railway transport, enhancing science and technology transfer, developing human resources, and providing financial assistance.
The Vietnamese Government is committed to creating favorable conditions for businesses, including those from China, to operate effectively and sustainably within legal regulations, PM Chính affirmed.
In another meeting with Wang Xiaojun, Deputy General Manager of the Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina), PM Chính encouraged the company to expand its cooperation and investment in Vietnam, particularly in renewable energy and transport infrastructure. Wang noted that PowerChina has been operating in Vietnam’s energy sector since 2000 and is keen on pursuing projects such as pumped storage hydropower, wind power in the northern region, integrated LNG, and transport infrastructure.
PM Chính praised the successful cooperation between PowerChina and Vietnamese partners and expressed hope for continued collaboration in energy, especially renewable energy. He suggested that PowerChina join Vietnamese partners in implementing large-scale infrastructure projects, sharing solutions, management expertise, cutting-edge technologies, and new economic models.
