Vietnam’s Communist Party General Secretary To Lam Arrives in Jakarta for State Visit

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, arrived in Jakarta on Sunday for a state visit, during which he will meet with Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto on Monday.
Upon his arrival at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, To Lam was accorded a ceremonial welcome featuring honor guards, military music, and a gun salute performed by Indonesian soldiers. Indonesia’s Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, formally received him.
Prominent Indonesian officials, including Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, Director General of Protocol and Consular Affairs at Indonesia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry Andy Rachmianto, Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Denny Abdi, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong, were also present at the reception.
This state visit, set to continue until March 11, marks To Lam’s first official visit to Indonesia since assuming leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam. On Monday, he and his wife, Ngo Phuong Ly, will be welcomed in a formal ceremony by President Prabowo at the Jakarta Presidential Palace.
During his visit, To Lam is scheduled to engage in high-level discussions with Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani, Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Puan Maharani, and Speaker of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) Sultan Najamudin.
President Prabowo’s office stated in a release that To Lam’s visit is expected to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Vietnam.
“The state visit of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam also coincides with the 70th anniversary of Indonesia-Vietnam diplomatic relations,” the statement noted.
