Wang Yi Calls for Multilateralism and Inclusive Globalization at BRICS Meeting

New York, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, speaking at the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting on Friday, emphasized the need for BRICS nations to promote a multi-polar world and economic globalization that benefits all countries. Wang, who also serves as a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the crucial role of common security in achieving lasting peace, stressing that no single nation should dominate the global security agenda or compromise the security of others.

Wang urged BRICS countries to prioritize development, with a focus on poverty reduction, financing for development, and ensuring energy and food security for developing nations. He pointed out the importance of capitalizing on opportunities presented by the ongoing technological revolution and industrial transformation.

In his address, Wang Yi called for the practice of true multilateralism and the improvement of global governance. He advocated for the inclusion of more Global South countries in international decision-making processes, stressing the need to increase their voice and representation in global institutions.

Later that day, during a meeting between the Committee of Ten (C10) Heads of State and Government on UN Security Council Reform and foreign ministers of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, Wang reiterated the importance of enhancing the representation of developing countries, particularly through special provisions for Africa.

Wang’s statements reflect China’s ongoing commitment to fostering inclusive growth, global stability, and equitable representation in international forums.
