White House Announces National Security Meeting Amid Middle East Tensions

Washington, D.C., The Gulf Observer: In response to escalating developments in the Middle East, President Joe Biden will convene his national security team for a meeting in the Situation Room on Monday. The session, which will be closed to the press, aims to address the ongoing crisis and recent regional tensions.
Additionally, President Biden is scheduled to speak with King Abdullah II of Jordan as part of diplomatic efforts to manage the situation.
The conflict, which began on October 7, has resulted in significant casualties, with nearly 39,600 Palestinians reported killed in Gaza due to the Israeli military campaign. This situation has intensified regional unrest, notably with the recent assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. The attack occurred one day after an Israeli strike in Beirut killed a senior Hezbollah commander.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has reportedly ordered retaliatory actions against Israel in response to Haniyeh’s death. In light of these developments, the Pentagon announced on Friday the deployment of additional military assets to the Middle East. The Department of Defense stated that these measures are intended to reduce the risk of further regional escalation by Iran and its allies.
