Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping held significant talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Beijing on Wednesday, marking a pivotal moment in the China-Egypt bilateral relationship. Xi highlighted the historical significance of their diplomatic ties, noting that Egypt was the first Arab and African state to establish diplomatic relations with China 68 years ago. This year also commemorates the 10th anniversary of the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership.

President Xi emphasized the robust development of bilateral relations over the past decade, guided by the collaboration between the two heads of state. He remarked that China-Egypt relations exemplify China’s commitment to solidarity, coordination, and mutually beneficial cooperation with Arab, African, Islamic, and developing countries. Under the new global circumstances, strengthening the China-Egypt relationship aligns with the aspirations of both peoples.

Xi expressed China’s readiness to deepen mutual trust and cooperation with Egypt, aiming to build a China-Egypt community with a shared future in the new era. This partnership is expected to contribute significantly to regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

Highlighting China’s national goals, Xi noted the historic opportunities for exchanges and cooperation between the two nations. He stressed the importance of mutual support and collaboration to promote common development.

China is prepared to enhance cooperation in traditional sectors such as infrastructure, industry, electricity, and agriculture, while also exploring emerging areas like healthcare, information and communications, and renewable energy. Xi emphasized the need to deepen economic, trade, and investment cooperation, encouraging more Chinese enterprises to invest and conduct business in Egypt.

Xi also proposed organizing the 2024 China-Egypt year of partnership to expand cultural and personnel exchanges. He highlighted the importance of making the Luban Workshop in Egypt a benchmark for China-Africa vocational education cooperation.

Furthermore, China supports Egypt’s role in international and regional affairs and is keen to strengthen coordination on multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the BRICS cooperation mechanism. Xi advocated for a multi-polar world that is equal and orderly, promoting universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization. He also emphasized the joint effort to safeguard international fairness and justice and protect the common interests of developing countries.

This meeting between President Xi and President El-Sisi underscores the deepening strategic ties and cooperative spirit between China and Egypt, setting a course for continued partnership and mutual growth in the years to come.
