Xizang Autonomous Region

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: The Xizang Autonomous Region in southwest China is set to increase the educational subsidy standard under the “Three Guarantees” policy for 2024, as disclosed in a fiscal report presented on Sunday.

The annual subsidy, covering food, accommodation, and school expenses for students from farming and herding households, as well as impoverished urban families, will rise by 90 yuan to reach 5,620 yuan per person.

The report, submitted for deliberation at the second plenary session of the 12th People’s Congress of the Xizang Autonomous Region, indicates that 746,000 students will benefit from this increment. The allocated funds for education are slated to witness an 8.4 percent increase to 30.6 billion yuan in 2024.

This adjustment in educational subsidies aligns with the region’s commitment to improving residents’ livelihoods, as outlined in the government work report’s appendix, which encompasses 21 to-do items, including enhanced healthcare subsidies and support for oxygen supply projects in high-altitude areas.
