National Patriotic Emulation Congress

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: After two days of intensive deliberations marked by innovation and efficiency, the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress, themed “Emulation for innovation, acceleration, and breakthrough to usher the nation into an era of strength, civilisation, and prosperity,” successfully concluded in Hanoi on December 27.

The Congress heard an important and wide-ranging keynote address by Party General Secretary Tô Lâm, which provided strategic guidance in both ideology and action for the entire Party, the people, and the armed forces in the new period.

Delegates reviewed the achievements, shortcomings, root causes, and valuable lessons drawn from patriotic emulation movements and commendation work over the past five years. The Congress also honoured Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces, Heroes of Labour in the Đổi mới (renewal) period, along with outstanding emulators and exemplary individuals and collectives from all sectors and regions nationwide.

Patriotic emulation movements across the country have yielded landmark achievements in the Hồ Chí Minh era. These include successfully overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic, completing the elimination of substandard housing four months ahead of schedule, constructing more than 3,000 kilometres of expressways, and making significant advances in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Each movement was highlighted as a vivid testament to the nation’s will, intellect, and aspiration for strength and prosperity.

The Congress also agreed on key goals, orientations, tasks, and solutions for the 2026–2030 period, aiming to mobilise the strength of great national unity, ignite aspirations for prosperity and happiness, and transform Việt Nam into a developed country by the mid-21st century.

At the event, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, who is also Chairman of the Central Council for Emulation and Commendation, officially launched the patriotic emulation movement for the 2026–2030 period under the same theme. He called on compatriots, cadres, soldiers, and overseas Vietnamese—regardless of position or profession—to uphold patriotism, self-reliance, resilience, and the aspiration to excel, and to work together to successfully implement the resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, building a more prosperous, powerful, civilised, and happy Việt Nam.

Meanwhile, Phạm Tất Thắng, Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information, Education, and Mass Mobilisation, outlined post-Congress communication priorities. He urged emulation and commendation councils at all levels, along with central and local media, to intensify coverage of patriotic emulation movements and commendation activities, promote the Party’s policies and State laws, highlight exemplary role models, and ensure leaders fulfil their responsibility in recognising and rewarding outstanding achievements.
