33rd Abu Dhabi International Book Fair to Commence on April 29th

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC), under the aegis of the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi, has unveiled the forthcoming Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) 2024, set to captivate audiences with a rich tapestry of literary treasures and cultural festivities. Scheduled to commence on April 28th with its professional programme, featuring the esteemed International Congress of Arabic Publishing and Creative Industries, the 33rd edition of the Fair will officially open its doors on April 29th, welcoming bibliophiles and enthusiasts until May 5th at the esteemed Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
Egypt, a bastion of literary prowess and intellectual heritage, has been honored as the Guest of Honour for this edition, reflecting its profound influence on Arab thought and creativity. In a nod to Egypt’s illustrious literary tradition, the late Egyptian novelist Naguib Mahfouz has been designated as the ‘Focus Personality’ for the Book Fair. Renowned for his seminal contributions to Arabic literature, Mahfouz made history as the first Arab author to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1988, elevating Arab literature onto the global stage.
Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of ALC, emphasized the significance of celebrating cultural luminaries from the Arab world, noting their pivotal role in shaping ideas and enriching the Arabic language.
