38th OSJD Conference Commences in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan
Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: The 38th session of the Conference of heads and responsible representatives of railway transport enterprises of the member countries of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways (OSJD) commenced on Monday at the Yyldyz Hotel in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
Turkmen Railways agency reported that the opening session featured a congratulatory message from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan to the participants of the conference.
The agenda for the conference includes a comprehensive review of the activities of specialized commissions and permanent working groups of the Organization for the year 2023. Discussions will also be held on the Work Program for the upcoming years, exploring the feasibility of developing a Development Strategy for the Organization, and addressing issues related to professional training and education of railway system workers, among other pertinent topics.
During the opening ceremony, Mammethan Chakyyev, Director-General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, emphasized the strategic significance of Turkmenistan’s geographical location at the crossroads of Central Asia and Europe.
Furthermore, the conference will deliberate on measures aimed at strengthening effective cooperation under the Agreement on International Transit Tariff. Participants will explore avenues for improving and updating the agreement to promote universal prosperity and progressive development in the region.
The 38th OSJD Conference serves as a platform for member countries to exchange insights, collaborate on key issues, and formulate strategies to enhance railway transportation efficiency and connectivity across the OSJD network.
