7 dead, 59 wounded in Iran after flooding

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: In the wake of the storm and flooding in Iran over the past two days, some 7 individuals lost their lives and 59 others were injured, the country’s head of the Emergency Organization has said.

Ja’far Miadfar said that the storm and flooding in the last two days left 27 injured in the capital city of Tehran, two hurt in Ahar city, and in provinces of Isfahan, Mazandaran and Alborz 15, 5, and 10 injured respectively.

The official also noted that seven Iranians lost their lives as a result of heavy rains on Wednesday and Thursday.

Moreover, a strong wind storm hurt 27 people, 18 out of the number were taken to health centers and nine others received outpatient treatment, he said.

In Isfahan province, three citizens lost their lives due to flooding, and nine others were hurt, he noted, adding that two people were injured as a result of a rock fall in Kandovan road, Mazandaran province.

The Crisis Management Organization of Iran issued warnings concerning 21 provinces in the country until Sunday, urging the Iranian people to refrain from traveling through mountains and camping near rivers.
