Vietnamese and Chinese Leaders Hold Strategic Talks to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and President Tô Lâm, held official talks today with his Chinese counterpart, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President Xi Jinping, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The talks followed a grand welcome ceremony in honor of the Vietnamese delegation’s State visit.

President Xi Jinping warmly welcomed President Tô Lâm and congratulated him on his recent election as the Party leader and President of Vietnam. During the discussions, President Xi expressed his deep condolences on the passing of former Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng, acknowledging the late leader’s significant contributions to Vietnam’s revolutionary cause, Vietnam-China relations, and the global development of socialism.

President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of this State visit, President Lâm’s first international trip as Vietnam’s head of state, noting that it underscores the high priority both nations place on Vietnam-China relations. He affirmed that Vietnam remains a top priority in China’s foreign policy and expressed confidence in the continued success of Vietnam’s leadership under the CPV.

In response, President Tô Lâm conveyed his gratitude for the warm reception and for China’s support following the passing of General Secretary Trọng. He expressed his commitment to further strengthening the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and deepening the bilateral relationship across all areas.

The two leaders exchanged views on their respective countries’ situations, as well as the state of bilateral relations. President Lâm congratulated China on its recent achievements and reaffirmed Vietnam’s dedication to its friendly relationship with China. He also briefed President Xi on Vietnam’s ongoing economic and social developments, Party reforms, and foreign policy objectives.

The talks also focused on enhancing political trust, expanding cooperation in key sectors such as security, defense, and infrastructure, and promoting cultural exchanges between the two nations. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region, particularly in maritime areas, and agreed to resolve differences through peaceful means in accordance with international law.

The meeting concluded with the signing of multiple cooperation agreements in areas such as trade, agriculture, infrastructure, and media, further solidifying the strong ties between Vietnam and China. President Xi Jinping also hosted a tea party for President Tô Lâm, symbolizing the deep camaraderie between the two leaders and their nations.

The successful talks between the two leaders mark a significant step forward in the Vietnam-China relationship, setting the stage for continued cooperation and mutual development in the years to come.
