BIBD Sponsors Digital Education Initiative for Autistic Children

Bandar Seri Begawan, The Gulf Observer: Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) has reaffirmed its dedication to inclusivity and community welfare by sponsoring the Digital Education Initiative for Autistic Children, codenamed ‘Embrace Differences’. The initiative was officially launched by Ir Haji Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Info-Communications, during a ceremony held at the Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources Brunei (SMARTER) EDGE Centre in Kampong Mata-Mata.
The launch event witnessed the presence of BIBD representatives, including Norhayati binti Haji Abdi Manaf and Siti Nur Halizatul Shifa binti Haji Md Shahrin from the Government Relations and Special Projects Division.
Spearheaded by the NurRheiya Group under its community outreach programme, ‘Embrace Differences’ introduces a tailored digital education platform designed to enhance academic, social, and communication skills for children with autism. This aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), particularly Goal 3, which advocates for good health and well-being by supporting mental and emotional wellness through targeted educational resources.
BIBD’s sponsorship covered the provision of essential devices and software, ensuring inclusive and accessible education for children with autism. The initiative reflects BIBD’s commitment to achieving UN SDG 4 (quality education for all) and UN SDG 10 (reducing inequalities). By empowering children with disabilities, it ensures they have access to the tools and opportunities needed to thrive.
Haji Mohd Yusri bin Haji Wahsalfelah, BIBD Head of Government Relations and Special Projects, remarked, “At BIBD, we believe in creating opportunities for all children to succeed, regardless of their circumstances. Through initiatives like this, we continue to prioritise education, digital innovation, and inclusivity as part of our broader commitment to giving back to the community. Supporting the mental and physical wellness of our society is integral to our vision of building a sustainable future for Brunei.”
The project also contributes to Brunei’s Digital Economy Masterplan 2025 and supports the national aspirations outlined in Brunei Vision 2035. By equipping autistic children with digital literacy skills, the initiative prepares them for future employment opportunities and empowers them for independent daily living.
BIBD remains steadfast in its mission to foster impactful partnerships, ensuring every member of society is equipped to contribute to Brunei’s progress and prosperity.
