President Tokayev Highlights Education and AI as Pillars of Kazakhstan’s Future Development

Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that “investments in education and science are a step toward a brighter future of Kazakhstan,” during his address at the 2nd International Forum of Strategic Partners held in Astana on Friday, according to Akorda.
In his speech, President Tokayev underscored Kazakhstan’s ambitious goals of modernizing the economy, developing new manufacturing sectors, integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technologies across industries, and transforming the nation into a fully digital state.
He stated that Kazakhstan has made a confident stride toward becoming a technologically advanced country, noting that these efforts are essential to shaping a new national identity.
Referring to earlier speakers’ remarks on AI’s role as a new driver of global progress, Tokayev highlighted that this unique technology provides humanity with an unprecedented opportunity to advance. “It is expected that the contribution of AI to global GDP will exceed 15 trillion US dollars. But which country will benefit the most from the development of AI? It’s an interesting question that requires comprehensive analysis. While the answer may seem obvious, this very question defines humanity’s future,” the President noted.
He reaffirmed that the development and integration of AI technologies constitute a top strategic priority for Kazakhstan, with particular focus on training experts and professionals in this rapidly evolving field.
President Tokayev cited the success of the AI-Sana program, launched earlier this year, which has already been completed by more than 540,000 students. He added that AI courses have been introduced as a mandatory component in all schools and universities, and preparations are underway for the establishment of a dedicated IT university.
Recalling the agreements reached with OpenAI during his visit to the United States in September, the Head of State announced the launch of a pilot project introducing educational tools based on ChatGPT. Through these initiatives, he said, Kazakhstan is undertaking a comprehensive digital transformation of its education system, fully leveraging the potential of artificial intelligence to build a knowledge-driven future.
