Qatar University Book Fair kicks off

Doha, The Gulf Observer: The Minister of Culture HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Thani and the President of Qatar University Dr. Hassan bin Rashid Al Derham inaugurated on Tuesday Qatar University Book Fair 2023, with the attendance of a number of officials and representatives of local publishing houses and university students.

The exhibition will be held in joint cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, represented by the Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum, and the Qatar University Press, at the headquarters of the new Student Affairs building at Qatar University over a period of 6 days.

This cultural event stems from the vision of the Ministry of Culture and Qatar University in preserving the intellectual and cultural heritage of Qatari authors, enriching the field of knowledge, in addition to providing the appropriate environment for more than 26,000 students at Qatar University to access books, and to benefit from Qatars cultural stock of various interests and specializations.

18 local publishing houses are participating in the first edition of the Qatar University Book Fair, and two official entities are participating (the Ministry of Culture and Qatar University). The exhibition aims to promote a culture of reading and reading to build a reading and educated generation of students, capable of building the future of their nation and society, in addition to providing an opportunity to exchange ideas for students and visitors.

The book fair will also host a number of workshops, panel discussions, and book launches.
