Abu Dhabi University hosts 2nd annual ‘STEM’ Programming Competition

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The College of Engineering at Abu Dhabi University (ADU) hosted its 2nd Annual STEM Programming Competition

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The College of Engineering at Abu Dhabi University (ADU) hosted its 2nd Annual STEM Programming Competition as part of the university’s UAE’s National Programme for Coders supporting activities.
The competition presented students with real-world STEM challenges to race in programming solutions for three hours and devise strategy and work collaboratively to win. The competition had an impressive 710 participants in 170 teams from all over the UAE submitting 1331 solutions judging by 15 faculty members in real time.
In the school track, Brighton College Abu Dhabi came in the first place solving the challenges in an impressive 62 minutes. Horizon Private School came in second and the Cambridge High School third.
The rest of the top ten winning schools included Private International English School, ADNOC Schools, Um Al Emarat School, GEMS Cambridge International School, Al Bashair Private School, Khalifa Bin Zayed Secondary School, and Umm Al Momineen School. The university also celebrated 11 schools for their outstanding student mentorships.
Following the competition, an award ceremony was held to celebrate 11 schools for Best Student Mentorship, Top Ten teams in the Schools Tournament and the Young Programmers from grades seven and eight. The ceremony witnessed the participation of more than 421 school students, teachers, supervisors, and principals.
Dr. Hamdi Sheibani, Dean of the College of Engineering at Abu Dhabi University (ADU), stated, “Following the success of its first edition, we are proud to host the second Annual STEM Programming Competition. The competition serves as a valuable experience that equips students with diverse and dynamic skill sets that will support them to flourish in their future careers. This year, we witnessed a high turnout of students who have shown interest in learning more about coding and programming.”
