Baku, The Gulf Observer: On 32nd anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy, the ADA University Foundation, in collaboration with ADA University (ADAF) and the Coca-Cola Foundation, organized a tree-planting campaign, planting 63 trees to honor the memory of the 63 children who lost their lives in the Khojaly genocide.

The solemn event took place in the vacant yard of Integrated Training Board School No. 11, bringing together ADA University’s voluntary students, teachers, and staff, along with students from the school.

Firuza Ismayil Aliyeva, Head of ADAF’s Sponsorship Projects Department, highlighted the significance of the initiative, implemented through the Coca-Cola Foundation, a key partner of the ADA University Foundation. The project aims to immortalize the names of Khojaly martyrs and ensure their memory endures through the passage of time.

Each of the 63 fruit trees planted during the campaign was named after one of the martyred children, creating a living tribute to those who tragically lost their lives.

Ms. Aliyeva remarked that this initiative serves not only as a remembrance of the past but also instills a sense of responsibility toward nature and society among the students involved. She expressed gratitude to the Coca-Cola Foundation for its collaboration in making the project a reality.

Gulnara Abdullayeva, Director of School No. 11, conveyed her satisfaction with the school’s active participation in the campaign. She emphasized the importance of fostering strong relations between educational institutions and universities. Ms. Abdullayeva stressed that the tree-planting initiative serves as a reminder that the foundation for raising socially responsible citizens begins in schools.

The tree-planting campaign, with its symbolic significance, not only pays homage to the victims of the Khojaly tragedy but also underscores the collaborative efforts of educational institutions and organizations in promoting social responsibility and environmental consciousness.
