Addis Ababa Hosts Inaugural Oman–Ethiopia Political Consultations

Addis Ababa, The Gulf Observer: The first session of political talks between the Sultanate of Oman and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia was held today in the Ethiopian capital, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on political consultations between the two countries.
The Omani delegation was led by Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Diplomatic Affairs, while the Ethiopian delegation was headed by Hadera Abera, State Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political and Economic Affairs.
During the session, both sides discussed the enhancement of bilateral relations, with a focus on promoting trade exchange, labor regulation, and expanding maritime and air transport links. The delegates also explored potential investment opportunities in agriculture and financial services and addressed several regional and international issues, emphasizing efforts to resolve them through peaceful means.
On the sidelines of the consultations, Sheikh Khalifa met with Gedion Timothewos, Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss strengthening cooperation between the two nations and exchanging views on matters of mutual interest.
The session was attended by Dr. Afkar Nazim Al Farsi, Head of Oman’s Mission to Ethiopia, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Balushi, Head of the Africa Department at the Omani Foreign Ministry, and several senior officials from both sides.
