Al Ain Zoo Celebrates International Tiger Day with New Amur Tiger Experience and Conservation Initiatives

Al Ain

Al Ain, The Gulf Observer: Al Ain Zoo is commemorating International Tiger Day, observed annually on July 29, by highlighting its continued commitment to the protection of endangered species and raising public awareness about the critical importance of biodiversity conservation.

As part of its celebratory programming, the Zoo invites guests to explore its latest Amur Tiger Experience, taking place every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 10:00 AM. These sessions offer a rare and educational opportunity to observe enrichment presentations and hear directly from the Zoo’s animal care team, who share insights into the unique behaviours and ecological significance of the Amur tiger—a subspecies currently facing the threat of extinction.

Visitors can also explore the newly inaugurated Amur Tiger Habitat, designed to replicate the tigers’ natural environment and meet the highest standards of animal welfare. The spacious outdoor zone features shaded resting areas, cooling platforms, water ponds, and cave-like shelters to ensure the wellbeing of the tigers. Advanced enrichment facilities, including misting systems and chilled ponds, further enhance the habitat, offering both comfort for the animals and an immersive learning experience for visitors.

In addition to the viewing areas, the Habitat includes an interactive training zone aimed at engaging guests of all ages in conservation education. Al Ain Zoo is home to several endangered big cat species, including the Amur tiger, Bengal tiger, Arabian leopard, and Jaguar, underscoring its leading role in regional wildlife preservation.

To enhance guest experience during the summer, Al Ain Zoo has introduced a complimentary vehicle service across the park, available until the end of August 2025, ensuring visitors can comfortably explore its vast grounds.

Throughout the year, guests can also participate in a wide array of wildlife interactions, including giraffe feeding, Ring-tailed Lemur encounters, bird and reptile exhibitions, and storytelling sessions featuring iconic species such as the sand cat and the Amur tiger. The experience is further enriched by access to the Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre and Al Ain Safari, offering a journey that seamlessly blends education, conservation, and adventure.

With a strong focus on animal welfare, community engagement, and environmental stewardship, Al Ain Zoo continues to position itself as a regional cornerstone of conservation and a family destination that inspires a deeper connection to the natural world.
