Algiers, The Gulf Observer: Algerian Minister of Health H E Abdelhak Saihi affirmed that the Algerian-Qatari-German Hospital project represents a new building block in strengthening the strong relations that unite the two brotherly countries.
Its inauguration ceremony yesterday was attended by Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria H E Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Algerian Minister of Health said that the hospital will strengthen the health system in Algeria and will be a model of the good relationship between Qatar and Algeria more than an economic investment.
The Minister also stressed that the Qatari-Algerian relations are strong and that their cooperation dates back for decades. He added that this is perhaps the first reflection of that in Algeria in the health field, but that Qatar’s contributions to Algeria were numerous. He said this project will contribute to strengthening relations between the two countries, and stressed that more important is strengthening cooperation between Arab countries, and developing Arab society.
Saihi explained that the hospital is the fruit of the good relationship between Qatar and Algeria, and it is the first project of its kind in the health field, but there are multiple and diverse investments of Qatar in Algeria, and cooperation between the two sides in the economic field and other fields has achieved great success.
He also pointed out that the hospital has a capacity of 400 beds, and will treat many of the complex cases that required treatment outside Algeria, explaining that the reference in hospitals is not the number of beds, but medical technology. He added that the hospital will, through the specialties it offers, reduce the number of Algerians travelling abroad for treatment.
