Almaty Named Youth Capital of the Turkic World for 2025

Lankaran, The Gulf Observer: The city of Lankaran, Azerbaijan, officially handed over the title of “Youth Capital of the Turkic World” to Almaty, Kazakhstan, during a closing ceremony marking the end of its tenure as the 2024 Youth Capital, the Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Information announced.
The ceremony drew participation from youth delegations representing member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), underlining the role of youth in promoting unity and cooperation among Turkic nations.
As part of the concluding events, a conference on OTS modeling and a training program for volunteers were held, aiming to strengthen youth engagement and regional collaboration through knowledge sharing and civic initiatives.
The announcement that Almaty would become the Youth Capital of the Turkic World in 2025 was first made by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during the informal OTS summit held in Budapest.
The initiative reflects the OTS’s ongoing commitment to enhancing youth development, fostering intercultural dialogue, and promoting solidarity among Turkic-speaking nations.
In related developments, President Tokayev met on Thursday with the Speakers of Parliament of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TurkPA) in the Kazakh capital, underscoring Kazakhstan’s active engagement and leadership within the Turkic cooperation framework.
