Amir of Qatar Holds Meeting with President of Nepal
Kathmandu, The Gulf Observer: Today, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Amir of Qatar, convened with the President of Nepal, His Excellency Ram Chandra Poudel, at the Sheetal Niwas Presidential Palace in Kathmandu. The meeting marked a significant milestone in bolstering the longstanding ties between Qatar and Nepal.
At the onset of the meeting, President Poudel warmly welcomed His Highness the Amir and the accompanying delegation, commending His Highness’ historic visit as the first by an Arab leader to Nepal. President Poudel expressed his eagerness to collaborate with His Highness in advancing mutual cooperation and elevating bilateral relations to new heights.
In response, His Highness the Amir extended his heartfelt gratitude to President Poudel for the gracious reception and hospitality extended to him and the accompanying delegation. His Highness underscored the significance of his visit in reinforcing the strong bonds that unite Qatar and Nepal. He expressed hope that the discussions, agreements, and memoranda of understanding resulting from the visit would foster friendly relations and cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries and their peoples.
His Highness also lauded the Nepalese community in Qatar for their valuable contributions to various developmental sectors within the country.
During the meeting, both sides engaged in discussions on enhancing cooperation between the two friendly nations, as well as addressing prominent regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The meeting was attended by esteemed dignitaries, including Chief of the Amiri Diwan His Excellency Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Thani, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs His Excellency Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, alongside other members of the official Qatari delegation.
On the Nepalese side, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs His Excellency Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation His Excellency Shakti Bahadur Basnet, and several senior officials were in attendance.
In a gesture of hospitality and goodwill, President Poudel hosted a dinner banquet in honor of His Highness the Amir and the accompanying delegation, further cementing the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Qatar and Nepal.
