Amir of Qatar Holds Official Talks with Colombian President to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Doha, The Gulf Observer: His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar, held an official session of talks with HE Gustavo Petro, the President of the Republic of Colombia, at Lusail Palace. The discussions focused on enhancing the bilateral relationship between the two countries and exploring new avenues of cooperation.
At the outset of the meeting, His Highness the Amir warmly welcomed President Petro and his delegation, wishing them a pleasant stay in Qatar. Emphasizing the importance of Qatar-Colombia relations, the Amir expressed his hope that the visit would further strengthen cooperation and expand the partnership between the two nations, in line with the aspirations and interests of both peoples.
President Petro, in turn, thanked the Amir for the warm reception and hospitality, highlighting Colombia’s commitment to boosting relations with Qatar. He expressed his desire to work towards deeper cooperation in various sectors and to elevate bilateral ties to new heights.
The talks covered a wide range of topics, particularly focusing on enhancing collaboration in the fields of economy, investment, and energy. Additionally, both leaders discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The session was attended by key Qatari officials, including HE Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Chief of the Amiri Diwan; HE Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs; HE Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology; HE Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry; and HE Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. On the Colombian side, the meeting was joined by HE Laura Sarabia, Minister of Foreign Affairs; HE Luis Carlos Reyes Hernandez, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism; HE Andres Camacho Morales, Minister of Mines and Energy; HE Yesenia Olaya Requene, Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation; as well as other senior officials accompanying President Petro.
Earlier in the day, His Highness the Amir and President Petro held a bilateral meeting, where they further discussed the strengthening of cooperative relations between their two countries.
As part of the visit, the Amir hosted a luncheon in honor of President Petro and his delegation, further solidifying the strong ties between Qatar and Colombia. The luncheon also provided an opportunity for both leaders to continue their dialogue and explore areas for future collaboration.
