Amir of Qatar Meets Greek President in Athens

Doha, The Gulf Observer: His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar, conducted a significant meeting with Her Excellency Katerina Sakellaropoulou, President of the Hellenic Republic, at the Presidential Palace in Athens today.

At the outset of the meeting, President Sakellaropoulou extended a warm welcome to His Highness the Amir and his accompanying delegation. She highlighted the remarkable progress in bilateral relations between Greece and Qatar and expressed her hope that the Amir’s visit would further elevate the cooperation between the two friendly nations. In response, His Highness the Amir conveyed his heartfelt gratitude for the gracious reception and hospitality, reaffirming his commitment to bolstering the longstanding friendship and expanding collaborative efforts to benefit both nations.

The discussions during the meeting centered on strengthening and developing the existing ties, particularly in the realms of economy and investment. The leaders also addressed current developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories, emphasizing the need for continuous dialogue and cooperation.

The meeting was attended by prominent Qatari officials, including His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Head of the Amiri Diwan, His Excellency Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transportation, His Excellency Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry, His Excellency Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Culture, and His Excellency Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, among other esteemed members of the official delegation.

From the Greek side, attendees included His Excellency Giorgos Gerapetritis, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Dr. Lina Mendoni, Minister of Culture, along with other senior officials. An official reception ceremony was held in honor of His Highness the Amir upon his arrival at the Presidential Palace, underscoring the significance of the visit.
