Araghchi Calls for Continued Dialogue With France to Prevent Regional Escalation

Araghchi

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has underlined the urgent need to avoid further tensions in the region, stressing that despite significant differences between Iran and France, sustained dialogue remains essential in international relations.

Speaking to IRIB during his visit to Paris, Araghchi said that “knowing each other’s positions and preventing misunderstandings and miscalculations has always been very important and is one of the main goals of the dialogue.”

He described his trip to France as part of an ongoing series of diplomatic consultations covering a wide range of issues, including regional developments, the nuclear file, European affairs, the conflict in Ukraine, global matters, and bilateral ties.

Araghchi acknowledged the long-standing divergences between Tehran and Paris on numerous topics but noted that political dialogue has never been interrupted. “We have differences of opinion on various issues, but at the same time, we have always had political dialogues and consultations with each other,” he said.

He also recalled that detailed discussions on the nuclear issue took place between the two sides in New York on the sidelines of this year’s UN General Assembly. Additionally, a recent phone call between the presidents of Iran and France further reflected ongoing diplomatic engagement.

Emphasizing the importance of sustained communication, Araghchi reiterated that dialogue is both “necessary and obvious” in international relations, particularly when it comes to preventing misjudgments and preserving regional stability.
