Araqchi Tells Italian Counterpart Iran-U.S. Talks Could Be Fruitful with Goodwill and Realism

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi expressed optimism about the ongoing nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States, stating that the talks could yield positive results if conducted with goodwill and realism.
Araqchi made the remarks during a phone conversation with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Saturday, following his return from Rome where the second round of negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program and the lifting of U.S. sanctions took place.
The discussions were held indirectly, with Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi acting as the intermediary between Araqchi and Steve Witkoff, the U.S. President’s Middle East envoy. The negotiations were described as constructive and progressive.
During the call, Araqchi briefed his Italian counterpart on the latest round of talks and expressed appreciation for Italy’s role, in coordination with Oman, in facilitating the diplomatic process. According to a statement shared on the Telegram channel of the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Araqchi reaffirmed that the negotiations could be fruitful provided that realism and good faith continue to guide both sides.
Minister Tajani welcomed Iran’s responsible approach and expressed gratitude for the update on developments. He reiterated Italy’s willingness to support efforts aimed at advancing the diplomatic track and contributing to regional stability.
The ongoing dialogue marks a significant step toward reviving diplomatic efforts to resolve long-standing issues surrounding Iran’s nuclear program and international sanctions.
