AS FAR Defeat Real de Banjul 2-0 in CAF Champions League Preliminary First Leg

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Morocco’s AS FAR secured a commanding 2-0 victory over Gambian side Real de Banjul in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.
The home side started brightly, creating several early chances. Bach came close in the seventh minute, while Youssef El Fahli’s effort was blocked in the 16th. A goal was later ruled out for offside in the 25th minute. El Fahli eventually broke the deadlock in the 27th with a powerful strike into the top corner. Minutes later, El Bouchkali struck the crossbar after the visiting goalkeeper spilled a cross.
AS FAR continued to dominate, with Carneiro and El Fahli combining well to force a double save, while debutant defender Mendy impressed by neutralizing Banjul’s counterattacks. In stoppage time, Hammoudan set up Khabba, who narrowly missed, before a 94th-minute own goal sealed the 2-0 win for the Moroccan champions.
The return leg is scheduled for September 27, also in Rabat, with kick-off at 20:00 (GMT+1). Earlier in the day, RS Berkane earned a 1-1 away draw against ASKO de Kara of Togo.
