Ashgabat Hosts Forum “Neutrality and Humanism: Comprehensive Support for an Inclusive Future” on World Children’s Day

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: The event “Neutrality and Humanism: Comprehensive Support for an Inclusive Future” was held in Ashgabat today to mark World Children’s Day, bringing together government officials, international partners, and representatives of civil society to discuss the development and well-being of the younger generation in Turkmenistan.
During the forum, participants addressed key issues including the prioritization of children’s development in state policy, the enhancement of international cooperation in this field, and the adoption of best global practices. A large-scale exhibition organized by the Ministries of Health and Medical Industry, Education, and Labour and Social Protection of the Population highlighted Turkmenistan’s progress across various sectors and the successful initiatives implemented by these ministries.
Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice President for Medical Activities of the Charity Fund for Providing Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, delivered remarks during the forum. She noted that the event was jointly organized by the Charity Fund and the UNICEF Representation in Turkmenistan, emphasizing that both organizations share the mission of safeguarding children’s health, supporting their education, and providing comprehensive social assistance.
Ms. Atabayeva highlighted that comprehensive support for children’s development contributes to a bright future for the nation and stressed that the Charity Fund, under the consistent support of the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Hero-Arkadag, plays a vital role in advancing humanitarian principles. She also underscored that cooperation with national and international organizations considers the interests of all children, ensuring their rights to education, sports, and self-expression.
Dmitry Shlapachenko, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, expressed appreciation to the President and the Hero-Arkadag for their support in organizing the high-level World Children’s Day event. He emphasized that protecting the health of Turkmenistan’s younger generation, particularly children with disabilities, and ensuring the full protection of their rights remain central to state policy.
Jalpa Ratna, UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan, noted the active and effective cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNICEF in recent years, highlighting the country’s active participation in international initiatives for the protection of children’s rights and health.
Speakers at the event particularly stressed Turkmenistan’s commitment to supporting children with disabilities and the important role of the Charity Fund in implementing effective programs in this area.
The forum concluded with tennis competitions for children with disabilities at the Tennis Complex of the capital’s Olympic Village, where participants also presented gifts from the Charity Fund. Commemorative photos with the children made the day a memorable occasion, celebrating inclusion and the joy of childhood.
