Ashgabat Unveils Renovated Neutrality Monument

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan on Thursday hosted the ceremonial unveiling of the renovated Neutrality Monument, a central event in the nationwide celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the country’s permanent neutrality, Turkmenistan’s official media reported.
The ceremony brought together heads of foreign delegations who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the International Forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, Neutrality Day, and the 30-year milestone of Turkmenistan’s internationally recognized neutral status. Members of the Mejlis, Cabinet ministers, senior government officials, and representatives of accredited diplomatic missions and international organizations were also in attendance.
During the event, speeches were delivered by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, Chairwoman of the Mejlis Dunyagozel Gulmanova, and Director-General of the UN Office in Geneva Tatiana Valovaya. The speakers underscored the global recognition of Turkmenistan’s neutrality, emphasizing its role as a vital contribution to regional peace, security, and cooperation since its adoption in 1995.
The unveiling of the renovated monument served as a major highlight in the lead-up to the International Forum “Peace and Trust: Unity of Goals in the Interest of a Sustainable Future,” scheduled to take place on December 12. Authorities noted that the restored structure symbolizes Turkmenistan’s longstanding commitment to diplomacy, dialogue, and peaceful international engagement.
